Call for proposals for Special Sessions at the

8th IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control (ICNSC)

11-13 April 2011 in Delft, the Netherlands

Dear Colleague,

You are cordially invited to organise a special session at the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control (ICNSC), which will be held 11-13 April 2011, in Delft, the Netherlands.

The main theme of the conference is “Next Generation Infrastructures”. Infrastructures are the backbone of the economy and society. Especially the network-bound infrastructures operated by public utilities and network industries provide essential services that are enabling for almost every economic and social activity. The crucial role of the infrastructure networks for energy and water supply, transportation of people and goods, and provision of telecommunication and information services, culminating into a myriad of value added services, makes them increasingly specialized and difficult to design, operate and manage.

This conference will provide a remarkable opportunity for the academic and industrial community to address new challenges and share solutions, and discuss future research directions in the area of next generation infrastructures. It will feature plenary speeches, industrial panel sessions, funding agency panel sessions, interactive sessions, and invited/special sessions. Contributions are expected from academia, industry, and government agencies.

A special session consists of a group of five or six papers discussing a common theme. Organising a special session gives you the opportunity to deepen or broaden a specific subject and to bring together a number of participants with a shared interest in one topic. Special sessions which include demos of tools or case studies and/or a mix of papers from academia, public and private sectors are highly encouraged. Your proposal should include the title and a brief description (1 paragraph) of the session, along with a tentative list of authors, title and (optionally) a short abstract for each of the five or six papers.

PROCEDURE

The organizational procedure for special sessions is as follows:

  1. Please inform as soon as possible Koen van Dam (k.h.vandam@tudelft.nl) and Rudy Negenborn (r.r.negenborn@tudelft.nl) (the Conference Special Session Chairs) of your intention to submit a session proposal.
  2. Submit no later than 1 October 2010 1 November 2010 your session proposal via the submission website of the conference.
  3. The submission system will send you a special session code. Please send this session code to the authors that will contribute to your session.
  4. Next, no later than 1 October 2010 1 November 2010 authors submit their papers via the conference submission website quoting the special session code.
  5. All submitted papers are reviewed and special session proposals are evaluated based on their coherence and fit to the conference topics as well as on the quality of the submitted papers.
  6. A notification of acceptance is sent to the special session organisers.

  • Special session proposals deadline: 1 October 2010 1 November 2010
  • Full paper submission deadline: 1 October 2010 1 November 2010
  • Notification of acceptance: 15 November 2010 15 December 2010
  • Camera-ready copy due: 15 December 2010 15 January 2010
  • Conference in Delft, the Netherlands: 11-13 April 2011
