It’s not just the big tech retailers and department stores getting in on all the Black Friday sale action.
Big high street fashion stores are following suit and offering exclusive Black Friday discounts on everything from outerwear and party season essentials to accessories and footwear.
River Island have confirmed they will be taking part, as will Matalan, House of Fraser, Topman and plenty more retailers.
Online fashion giants ASOS have yet to reveal their Black Friday deals but will be rolling out offers right up until Cyber Monday, while French online retailer La Redoute promises 40% off everything starting from next Monday (21st November).
Whatever you’re thinking about buying on 25th November, there will no doubt be a retailer offering a too good to be true deal for you to snap up.
Last year Black Friday generated £1.1bn in online sales, and according to research by ChannelAdvisor, over 26% of UK retailers surveyed say Black Friday is the most profitable day in their e-commerce calendar.
Many UK retailers also believe the snowball effect of a flurry of discount days will create a bumper festive period of sales in 2016. But we’ll have to wait and see whether their predictions ring true.
Top Black Friday shopping tips
Ensure you snap up the best bargains with these foolproof tips and get the items you really want. Remember planning is key to your success.
1. Focus your search
The easiest way to avoid being swayed by cut-price discounted price tags is to make a plan of what you actually need/want and how much you’re willing to spend. This will make it easier for you to narrow your search and hone in on specific deals quicker.
2. Start looking early
Many retailers have launched Black Friday deals early – Amazon deals are already live. Ensure you don’t miss the boat on what you want by shopping around for bargains as early as possible. We recommend either opting for around just before midnight, or a lull periods throughout the day, (around 3am-4am or 1-2pm).
3. Bookmark relevant pages ahead of time
If you’ve been stalking that designer handbag or new Nike trainers for weeks, bookmark the pages online so they’re easy to find when the sales launch. We also have round ups of the best deals at all the top retailers, which you can find here.
4. Hitting the shops? Kit yourself out accordingly
If you are brave enough to venture into stores come Black Friday, your success will be measured on how well you’ve prepped for the ordeal. By that we mean wear appropriate clothing – trainers, comfortable lightweight layers, and body armour. Leave the kids at home, and take some water to keep you hydrated.
5. Look for additional savings
Find ways to get free delivery, opt for click and collect services and sign up to cashback sites like Quidco and Topcashback where you’ll earn extra cash on purchases you are going to make any way.
