Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to South Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital in the wee hours of Monday morning, November 11, after the veteran singer complained of difficulty in breathing. According to latest updates, Lata is still in the hospital, and though her condition was reported as ‘critical’ yesterday, she is stable now and under observation.

Former minister Rajeev Shukla tweeted a health update after he met Lata Mangeshkar’s family. He wrote, “Spoke to family members of Lata Mangeshkar ji She is much better now but still in hospital Wishing her speedy recovery.”

Lata Mangeshkar was initially admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Breach Candy, as confirmed by hospital authorities. They further added that soon her condition improved, but she was kept under observation nonetheless.

Lata Mangeshkar was brought in to Breach Candy Hospital around 2 am on Monday after she complained of chest congestion. “She was brought to the hospital at about 2 am. She is critical and in ICU,” a hospital insider had told PTI.

India Today Television spoke to Lata Mangeshkar’s niece Rachana, for more clarity on the matter. Asking everyone to respect the family’s need for privacy, she had said that the singer was admitted due to chest infection, and is on the road to recovery. Lata Mangeshkar was responding well to the medication, and they are hoping to take her home in a couple of days. Rachana said, “We have admitted Lata Ji to keep her comfortable and she is better than last night. In a matter of 3-4 days, she will be absolutely fine. Her condition is stable, and on the path to recovery.”

A hospital representative had also told India Today Television, “She was down with a little bit of chest viral infection. She is fine. She is definitely better since last night. And she will be absolutely fine in a matter of 3-4 days.”

Meanwhile Bollywood celebrities like Shabana Azmi and Hema Malini, to fans of the legendary singer are wishing her a speedy recovery. Hema Malini sent her prayers to Lata Mangeshkar, and wrote, “Prayers for
@mangeshkarlata who is hospitalised & is reported to be in a critical condition. God give her the strength to come out of this crisis & continue to be in our midst. The nation prays for Bharat Ratna Lata ji, the nightingale of India”

Shabana Azmi wrote, “@mangeshkarlata Aadab aur hazaron duayein ke aap fauran achchi hokar sahi salamat ghar aa jayein ..”
