Assistant Principal Phil Morgante made a controversial appeal to the girls at the school, urging them not to wear “tight clothing”.
During a recent assembly held in the Texas school, a student covertly recorded an announcement that was being made by Phil.
As well as telling the girls that it was important that none of their underwear was on show at school, he urged them to try and “cover up”.
He implied that the female students were dressing to show off their toned physiques.
In a jovial tone, he said: “Now girls, I know you are trying to work on your abs since the Olympics, right? But your first can’t be up here, it’s got to cover the whole gut.”
Suggesting that their uniform could be distracting to male students, Phil assured the pupils that he had plenty of “pretty shirts” in his office for them to change into.
He finished off his rant with the provocative remark: “Ladies, I still blame you all for boys’ low grades because of tight clothing.”
One student secretly recorded the assistant principal’s assembly speech and uploaded it to Soundcloud.
Since it was posted last week, the short clip has been played over 9,000 times and has attracted a furious social media reaction.
One Twitter user said: “‘Girls… Boys already have trouble studying. Please watch the tight clothing.’” This has got to be a joke.
Another irate commenter said: “How the hell are you blatantly gonna value guys education over girls.”
According to The Odyssey Online, Principal David Yaffie apologised for the blunder the next day on behalf of Phil.
