Sheridan (Wyo.) Memorial Hospital is live on the CareAware Event Management alerting software of Cerner, which is integrated with the Hospira Plum A+ infusion system to route alerts from medical devices or nurse call systems to clinicians’ mobile devices. The Cerner alert technology automates delivery of alarm data and clinicians can receive alerts remotely and be able to identify the device, patient and alarm type involved in the incident.
Nine-hospital St. Joseph Hoag Health in Orange County, Calif., is joining the California Integrated Data Exchange, a health information exchange enabling providers and payers to transmit patient information across the state. The HIE has more than 9 million health records, and the addition of St. Joseph Hoag Health will add the records of another 1 million individuals to its system.
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services will implement Allscripts’ EZ-CAP health plan administration platform with the goal of improving operations of a managed care program covering 336,000 individuals while cutting costs. More than 100 other organizations use EZ-CAP, according to the vendor.
Meditech customers continue to migrate from the vendor’s older electronic health records systems to the next-generation Web EHR. Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, a critical access hospital in Glasgow, Mont., is trading in its 20-year-old EHR with implementation in 2017. Other vendors considered would have required the hospital to purchase an EHR from a larger delivery system but staying with Meditech enables the facility to remain independent, Dave Nixdorf, director of support services, said in a statement. The organization also believes the total cost of ownership will be lower.
KeyStone Health Information Exchange in Pennsylvania signed a new contact to continue to use Orion Health as it’s HIE vendor. KeyStone, which has about 5 million patient records, is managed by Geisinger Health System, and its client base covers 19 hospitals, 250 practices and 95 long-term care facilities.
