After dancing his heart out at several Royal Challengers Bangalore parties, Virat Kohli has now used that experience to shake a leg and rap with music great A.R. Rahman.
India Test skipper Kohli sang and danced for the official anthem of the Premier Futsal League with Rahman, who composed the song. The video is out and has already become viral on social networking platforms.
The anthem is called ‘Naam hai Futsal’.
Eight franchises — Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa, Kochi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru — will compete from July 15 to 24 in the inaugural season of the league.
Futsal is a shorter and quicker version of football. The five-a-side matches are usually played indoors. It is very popular in Europe and South America.
The Virat Kohli-blessed Premier Futsal League has already run into problems with the All India Football Federation. The tournament is a private and semi-professional league promoted by Xavier Britto of Indev Group.
The national federation has said that the league doesn’t have its sanction and is not approved by the Asian Football Confederation.
However, the league, very much the Indian Super League, is attracting marquee players who are virtually retired.
Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes has signed a marquee deal to play for the next three editions of Premier Futsal.
“Futsal is a fascinating format that has played a pivotal role in developing the skills of some of the greatest football players. I have seen Futsal grow not just back home, but also across the world and I have played in a few of those tournaments,” said the former midfield general who won 11 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies during his stint with United.
Earlier, the league has already unveiled Alessandro Rosa Vieira, fondly known as Falcao, and 19 other international futsal specialists, including ex-Portugal star Deco.
